It is set in Port Royal and is based on the first few chapters of The Curse of the Black Pearl, including the scene in which Will duels Jack and when Jack and Will commandeer the Dauntless and then steal the Interceptor. It includes the very first level in the game 'Port Royal'. It was released in May 2011 to coincide with the release of the fourth film in the series, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.Ī demo was released online at the beginning of May 2011. The game was developed by Traveller's Tales and published by Disney Interactive Studios. The game was officially announced on 18 November 2010. The 3DS version uses the StreetPass feature to activate sword fights. For example, everyone (except characters like Davy Jones who can walk under water) can swim under water, and members of Davy Jones's crew can breathe whilst doing so, Captain Jack Sparrow has the ability to use his compass, which points him to hidden items throughout the level, Will Turner has the ability to throw axes at targets to complete objectives, while female characters such as Elizabeth Swann have the ability to double jump, allowing them to reach higher locations inaccessible to male characters. Like past titles, different characters have different abilities. From here, players advance through the game, unlock characters and extras, and as players get further through the game, The Port will evolve and get bigger, revealing new areas to unlock and discover new things. The game uses the same two player drop in drop out co-op mechanics used in all the Lego video games. Other than that, my wife and I had a blast playing this game and I would recommend it, especially if you are gonna play through it with a friend.Gameplay is similar to previous Lego video games in the series. But by avoiding hitting those particular trees we were able to complete the game and even get True Pirate on the level on our first run through in Story Mode. Every time one of us hit a tree in the initial "room" the game would freeze and the speakers would emit a loud and obnoxious sound. My only complaint would be that, in the Wii version at least, my wife and I experienced a pretty bad glitch in the last level of the "On Stranger Tides" world. I especially enjoyed the changes in the gameplay elements such as the auto-shift into split-screen when in co-op mode when both players's actions couldn't fit onto one screen. I I really enjoyed the POTC movies and I enjoyed the other Lego titles so naturally I had a great time playing Lego POTC for the Wii. I really enjoyed the POTC movies and I enjoyed the other Lego titles so naturally I had a great time playing Lego POTC for the Wii. To be fair, I'd recommend both of these games to anyone however. I may have criticized the war style of Lego Star Wars 3 earlier, but to be honest, I actually like Lego Star Wars 3 better. However, the game feels like a step backward in the series. I'm really happy about that because I'm a casual gamer. The company obviously wants to appeal to a more casual audience. The game play doesn't need to change however. As for the game play, it's basically a traditional Lego game that holds little difference from the other games in the series. The graphics aren't any different from the other Lego games in the series, but that doesn't mean they're bad. This game is just sick! It's not as good as Lego Star Wars 3, but it's still amazing! I like how it went back to puzzle game play rather then the total warfare of Lego Star Wars 3. all the varied locations from the film, cannons, Jack Sparrow and Pirates! If your a fan of Pirates of the Caribbean you cant go wrong buying this game! The game translates well onto the Wii via the use of the 'nunchuck' control set-up. The puzzle difficulty has a nice learning curve and each character can do a special ability such as Jacks mask. In fact its a must to have a friend, to share solving the puzzles and putting on silly masks. The animations are spot on, Jack in particular and co-op makes the game twice as fun. The game follows the story near perfectly with some oddities that, mind you, are done on purpose.
